Sights & sounds & smell inspire memories from many regions of our mind & body, bringing forward long forgotten moments. Recently my friend offered to share her family recipe for baking ginger mollasses cookies together, it brought a rush of connection to my warm gentle Nana as a little girl, who always had ginger molasses cookies & saltine crackers waiting for me upon visiting. I felt safe there, loved & a peaceful listening ear of my Nana, alongside her little teacup poodle "Boogie" who watched over her. The music may be Blue Danube Waltz in the background, she always had time for me....Nana you hold a special place in my heart.
So from all Nanas, Gramma, Grandmothers & any other nickname one may carry, as we have found memories of yesteryear, a candle is sent ahead to share a loving hug & kiss from here, now & then to bridge the generations.

3/4 cup butter softened
1 cup light brown sugar
1 egg well beaten
1/4 cup molasses
2  1/4 cup flour
2 tsp each baking soda, cinnamon, & ground ginger
3/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp white sugar
Directions; Cream together butter & brown sugar, add eggs & molasses, add remaining  ingredients except white sugar. Mix well wrap dough to chill and create balls, dip/roll in white sugar, place on baking sheet 3 in apart. 375 bake oven.
